There are fires burning near us. We may have to evacuate! Please Pray!
Good morning, how are you? I am doing well, there has just been a lot going on in my life that has prevented me from posting here every day.
This morning I got up earlier then I have a in a while (about 7:00) and started to write in my current book. So far I have written over 700 words and plan to add a few more to that today. I will also work on putting some things into my dad’s Etsy shop and at Alibris where we are selling some of our old books (search for seller Legacy Books).
I have been thinking a lot lately about the hardest things to deal with in life. I know, I dwell and meditate on strange things; it comes with being an author I guess. Anyway, I have concluded that the hardest thing to cope with is often not a great trial, but everyday life.
I cannot tell you the number of times that I have been before God just pleading for help to get me through my average day. It’s not because there is anything awful going on, it’s that I have to deal with same issues over and over again.
I get tired of trying to be nice while one of my siblings makes sarcastic or even hurtful remarks. I get weary of the sink stopping up and having to wait to do dishes. I get frustrated that I don’t have people who call and ask me to come to their birthday parties, shopping trips, or just hang out for an hour. I am sick of fighting the clutter in my room and the rest of the house.
Have you ever felt like that? Just struggling to get through your ordinary day? You are not alone. There are a lot of us out there, more than even will admit it. So what do we do? How do we remedy a normal day? I don’t have all the answers but I do have a few ideas.
1. Change your plans for the day. Sometimes breaking up the routine is the best cure for what ails you. Spend one day sewing, scrapbooking, cooking, or whatever it is you love to do. Taking a day off from your everyday routine sometimes helps
2. Veg for the day. Every once in a while, I take a day and veg/do nothing. I spend my day watching movies, playing games, and reading books. Okay, so I don’t get a lot done, but I find that sometimes I need to do nothing and recharge.
3. Do something special just because. Set the table with the china, make a pretty center piece, play some party games just because. Sometimes, taking the time to plan something special will help you feel better.
Do you have any ideas?

Hello Everyone,
For the past two days, I have been unable to connect to our Internet connection with my computer. It is funny how reliant we get on our machines. I was about five before we even had a computer and probably about twelve before I started using it for anything other than games. It wasn’t until about two years ago that I started a blog and felt the need check my email once a day. How quickly we become dependent machines these days.
I have felt lost without the ability to get on the Internet even though I only spend an hour or so on every day. It has made me rethink what I do everyday and get back to doing some non-computer things I have let slide.
Right now, I am typing this on an older computer that goes much slower than mine. It has made me remember to be grateful for the everyday things I take for granted, that are so amazing. Most of you live hundreds or even thousands of miles away from me and yet I can communicate with you through the internet. I write my words down in Texas, but people can read them all over the world. Pretty amazing, no?
What is something that you take for granted but rely on it everyday?

Sometimes we go through hard times, times when nothing seems to go right. We all have times in our life when we get weary – weary of fighting battles, weary of our everyday life, weary of the little things that demand our attention. All of us go through times when we feel that we will die from all the little thing coming our way, the hurtful word, things not going according to plan, little irritants.
It is in these times that we need to look for the blessings in disguise to keep us going. Like a rainbow in a storm, a diamond among the coal, a whisper in the wind. These small things can be hard to find, but they can make all the difference.
Did this encourage you? Pass it on.

On Tuesday of last week, my granddad had surgery. Although at first it appeared to have gone well, he soon was rushed back into surgery. We spent most of Tuesday in the car so that we could be with him and his wife. We spent all of Wednesday in a waiting room to support my grandmother since my granddad was having a hard time with some of the medications.
We got back home late Wednesday night and spent all of Thursday and Friday recovering from the trip. I know that that sounds funny, but it had been a hard trip in many ways. My granddad is doing better, but please keep him in your prayers.
Today, I am going to be taking some training for early voting. My mom and I will once again be working the elections which will be fun and tiring all at the same time. For those of my readers who happen to live in Texas, remember that the last two weeks in February, you can vote anywhere in your county during early voting.
That is about all for now. Have a wonderful day!

Hello All!
I am so sorry that I didn’t do a post for writing Saturday. I have been having the worst time with my allergies and on Saturday I just didn’t feel up to writing. I am feeling better today and I hope that I will be posting everyday this week.
How is your life going? Mine is going good, other than the allergies of course. My older sister is coming for a visit this week which is always fun. I have a wonderful family, a warm home, plenty of food and water, and medicine to help me though my allergies.
Have a great day!

Yesterday was quite a day at my house, how about yours? I was busy working on editing one of my books when I heard a commotion. I went out of my room to see what it was and found that one of the pipes under the sink had broken and water was spewing everywhere.
We raced down our driveway to shut off the water to keep the whole house from being flooded. Then, we spent a good hour or so cleaning up the water from the kitchen floor and the cabinets. After that was done there wasn’t much we could do until dad got home to fix the pipe. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long. When mom called to tell him what was wrong he took off the rest of the day and came home.
After a trip to town to get the right parts, Dad soon had the water back on. Isn’t my dad amazing? Thank you Dad!
This little episode made me realize how thankful I am for running water. Think about all the things we use it for in our home that we often take for granted. From filling our glass to flushing our toilet; we depend on running water. That is my thought for the day.

I could use your prayers dear friends. I have been very tired for the past few days and then, a couple days ago, I broke out in a rash of sorts. It would seem that I have had a bad reaction to something, but I have no idea what it was.
Please pray that I heal quickly and that either we found out what caused the reaction or this never happens again.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers.

I had every intention to posting on Monday but my youngest sister broke her arm on Saturday evening. She got a temporary cast in the emergency room and yesterday we went to our doctor to get a real cast. Our doctor said that we would have to get a specialist to do since she broke her growth pate, which won’t be until tomorrow.
Please pray for my little sister, she is in a lot of pain right now so please keep her in your prayers.

In late June of this year I fell and got a one inch cut on my hand. 6 stitches and a few months later it was just a scar. Every time I look at it I remember the pain and hurt that went along with it, but time healed the wound and now it serves as a reminder to be careful when walking or riding near pavement.
It hit me yesterday that God does the same with all of my wounds. I’ve had some heartache over the years, some was through my own bad choices, some was through unforgiveness, and some was brought about by others.
Yet for every heartache, God has brought new healing and love. He was always there loving me, comforting me, and leading me. The scars on my heart bear testimony to the love of God. The wounds have been healed by the hand of an amazing God.
Now when I look at the scars of the past, I can smile. I can now look at them as beautiful examples of Gods love, grace, and healing. They are beautiful scars.

Good Morning all, I hope that this post finds you all well. The past few days I have really been struggling with allergies so haven’t done a lot on my computer. Yesterday was the worst day; I didn’t even get on the web yesterday. Thankfully we got some medicine that seems to be working.
Praise God for all the rain that we have gotten here! Over the past two weeks we have gotten about six inches of rain! It isn’t enough to get us out the extreme drought we are in (we need a lot more rain so that the lake levels rise) but we are well on our way.
Please keep my sister Rose in your prayers. She went to the dentist and they found that she had six cavities and she is going to have to have braces to prevent future ones from forming (her teeth are so crowded that she can’t clean them properly right now).
Well I guess that is all for right now. Have a wonderful day!

Yesterday started out fairly slow for me. We were all tired because we had been in the sun a lot on Sunday so we got up late. Mom had some errands to run in town, so she and some of my siblings left while the rest of us stayed home to recuperate.
Then it happened, around two o’clock we heard a gushing sound in the kitchen. Mom ran to see what it was and found that the pipe that took water to the sink had broken and water was spewing everywhere. We ran to the end of our driveway and shut the water off to the whole house.
For the next hour we were busy, checking around the kitchen and Mom's sewing nook to see how far the water had gone and drying everything that had gotten wet. Dad rushed home from work to come to our rescue. He and Mom fixed the pipe, and we all sat down thinking that this had been just a crazy day; little did we know that it wasn’t over yet.
While all the excitement had been going on, none of us had thought about the fact that the gate was standing wide open. It wasn’t till almost eleven o’clock that we someone noticed that the horse was gone. We spent about an hour looking before we found her, making it about 11:45 before we got to bed.
There was one bright spot to this day though: three baby chicks hatched. What was your day like?

Well I did something stupid; I closed the door on my own finger and broke it. I’m typing up this post with my left hand mainly because, of course, I broke a finger on my right hand. I am thankful, though, that I can still type out a blog post.
I am still working on what I am going to do for my blogaversary, but I have a couple of ideas. Hopefully I will come up with something fun that most of you will enjoy.

Yesterday ended up being an exciting day. My sister, Rose, fell on the pavement and cut her hand really badly. Mom had to take her to the doctor's to get six stitches put in. Poor Rose is not feeling well and is still in some pain, so we are trying to make her as comfortable as possible.
It is funny how much you realize someone does when they stop doing it. Rose is the one that usually makes breakfast and a hundred other things that may seem small, but when we are left to do them, they sure pile up.
Even though this may seem really bad, there is still a lot to be thankful for. The first is that she cut her left hand and, since she is right handed, this means she can still do a lot. The second is that our brother acted quickly when she fell and immediately wrapped a shirt around the cut to stop the bleeding. The third thing is that we live in a society that has the best health care in the world. We could debate about how we can make it better, but we can be thankful that we know that we will be taken care of. Praise God for all his many blessings.
Note: My family doesn’t grow corn, but a lot of the people around us do.

I am not feeling well today, I seem to be having some allergy issues. I hope that tomorrow I will feel better so that I can write a good post. I hope that you have a blessed day today.
Spring is well underway here in the beautiful state of Texas. The trees and grass are green, the garden is starting to grow, and the past couple of days have been gorgeous. Thank you all for your prayers for rain. We have gotten about three inches at our house over the past month. That has really helped the trees and grass to be green.
One of the reasons that I am so thankful that spring is well underway is that it means that the pollen counts are slowly coming going down. Allergies are almost done! How is spring progressing at your house?

Yesterday was a hard day for me and my family. There were just a lot of little things that were going wrong, and it just made us feel miserable. We felt like we were being nibbled to death. Have you ever had that feeling? Nothing big is wrong but a hundred small thing are? It was one of those days that we all wished we could have just stayed in bed, or sat in front of the TV all day, but life must go on. Then, yesterday evening, God did two things to remind us that he cares for us and was with us even when we are down.
We all went outside to see one of our goats that wasn’t eating, and figured out that it had eaten something poisonous and might die. Mom mixed up some medicine for it and we all hoped that it would work; we really couldn’t afford to lose the goat. Then we all went inside because a bad storm was headed our why. The storm had hail and possible tornados. A fitting end to the kind of day we had had.
The storm broke up before it hit us and for that we were thankful. Then I looked out the window and saw a blessing that God had left for us. The goat that we had thought was dying had actually had been in labor, and what I saw was a kid (a baby goat)!!!!! We all ran out in excitement and saw the two beautiful new kids. I wish I could post pictures of them but, as you know, I can’t do that on dial-up.
On our way inside from looking at the kids, we looked up as saw one of the biggest rainbows I have ever seen. It was a full bow and it really was encouraging. And so, our day ended on a very good note.
“And God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.’” Genesis 9:12-16 NIV

I am sick and tired of being tired and sick! I am sure all of you have been at this point at one point or another, and that is where I am today. We think I am struggling with allergies due to oak pollen, and we live on five acres of oak trees! Oh well, I will enjoy the oak trees a lot this summer once they aren’t pollinating.
Are any of you suffering from allergies? This seems to be the season for it and it is no fun. Thank God for medicines that help us cope, and our families to take care of us.
I hope that the rest of your day is blessed, and allergy free.

I had hoped to post pictures of completed doll dresses to show today, but I didn’t finish a single one. I worked on a couple, but I got really tired so I didn’t finish even one.
Thank you all for your prayers; I am feeling better and I didn’t run a fever yesterday. Praise God! I know that some of you are not feeling well either, and I am keeping you in my prayers.
We are taking a trip into town today, and if the word 'trip' sounds like an exaggeration, it takes us half an hour to get to the nearest town of any real size. It seems to take most of the day when ver we go into town, but I like living out in the country.
Sorry that this post is so short; I need to get ready to go.
