Top 5 Indie Discoveries

I still remember discovering the world of Indie Authors. While I have loved books put out by Christian publishers. I discovered some of my favorite books and authors among those who have independently published. I've picked five authors I have found and buy anything they write, and have sharired their works.

One of the earliest books I found was Just Like You by Elisabeth Allen. I fell in love with the characters and the style. While out of print at the moment, I have high hopes these stories will be returning to the world of published books before long. If you can find a copy, do so.

These stories are a slice of real life, wrapped in beautiful writing and with endearing characters. I found this series not only relatable but impactful in my early twenties when I first read them.

While I love everything written by J. Grace Pennington, my favorite is her Firmament series which starts with Radialloy.

I love Start Trek, and this series feels a little like it, yet it is clean and God-honoring. Not to mention, it has characters that will wedge themselves into your heart.

One of my earliest indie author discoveries has remained a favorite. While I love everything by this author, I love to suggest people start with Suit and Suitability by Kelsey Bryant.
While this book resets the Jane Austen novel Sence and Sensibility in 1930's America, you can enjoy it even if you either haven't read or didn't like the novel of origin. I loved the history, the deep characters, and the faith element.

While fantasy has never been my go-to genre, I will occasionally read it. Resistance by Jaye L. Knight is the best of the best when it comes to fantasy. This book and the series is an emotional roller-coaster you won't want to miss.

She recently released the last book in the series and I have to say it was one of the most satisfying endings to a series I've ever read.

Another series I adore and am always recommending starts with The Heart of Arcrea by Nicole Sager. I love this non-magical kingdom fantasy novel. It is not only a fun adventure, but full of Christian faith and values.

I love the covers she recently had made for this series. I think these would make perfect read-aloud books. All of this author's books are so good.

  1. I need to read all of these XD they’ve been on my TBR for literal years. I think I have the Arcrea series, the whole thing? I just have to read them. And I do have S&S, gifted this year because a friend knew I’d love it. I’m hoping to read it this autumn…
