Good morning all! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, like I had. We a wonderful elderly couple over to join us for our thanksgiving lunch and all of us had a wonderful time.


One of the things that I am most thankful for is each and every one of you. Your delightful comments and your encouraging emails mean the world to me.

I am very sorry about all the mistakes that have been in the recant posts, there is a lot going on right now and I am afraid it has affected my blog posts. I am also sorry to say that it will probably be a few more weeks before posting resumes as normal.

Hello everyone! I hope you had a good weekend, we did. My dad’s Birthday is on Saturday and we had a wonderful day celebrating. We had a big salad with all sorts of veggies and stuff on it, a little Pizza on the side, and our favorite soda; Dr. Pepper. We watched a really fun show called Sue Thomas, F.B. Eye that was done by two Christian brothers. They also did a TV show called Doc that we really liked; I will review those sometime for you.

On this Thanksgiving week life is good, but busy. Another family and a wonderful older couple will be joining us for our Thanksgiving lunch, which will be a lot of fun. We have already started our turkey, and preparation for the rest of the meal is about to get underway. I also have a lot of sewing to get done, my room to clean (ah! Is that still on my list?), as well as some holiday cleaning. Speaking of which, I better get to work.

Last writing Saturday, we talked about a few of the ways that you could use your writing talents for God. This week, I would like to talk about the people that you are trying to reach with your writing.

Every one of us has a target audience; an age group, a group with a particular struggle or issue, or a group with certain beliefs. When thinking about where your writing is taking you, the first thing that you should consider is your target audience and what ministers to them. My target audience is teenaged and young adult girls who are striving to live radically different lives for God.

I reach my target audience through my blog, and magazine articles right now. I hope to reach them in the future with my books that I am writing. My goal when writing my blog and articles is to encourage girls to live their lives radically for God, and know that they are not alone in that journey. In my books, I strive to create fun and adventurous stories that are God honoring.

History was my favorite subject in school and I still love to curl up with a biography or book on a time long ago and learn about the people and events of that time. I love see how events fit together into a bigger picture and how God has used even some of the world’s most awful events for his glory.

Want an example? Think about Alexander the Great; he conquered most of the world, spreading the Greek language across the globe. Why is this important? It allowed the New Testament, which was written in Greek, to be understood by many more people. That is one of my favorite stories of God using something bad for his glory.

Now for the people I would like to award.

The first on my list is Rachel and Jessica over at the Young Homemakers blog. Both Rachel and Jessica have become good friends to me. They were the first two that regularly commented on my blog. It was with Jessica that I first tossed around the idea of a group blog that ended up becoming Meditations of His Love.

Arianna’s blog is another blog that has been a blessing to me. Her posts make you laugh, cry, and point you to the Father. I have had the privilege of getting to know the girl behind the blog as well and that has been a huge blessing.

Chelsea’s blog is a great one for aspiring authors. She is a very gifted girl and she shares a lot of great thoughts.

Julia’s is the next person on my list. I must confess Julia that when you first joined MOHL I wasn’t sure about you. However, as I got to know you more, I found the reasons behind some of the things you said and did. Now I feel like you are a good friend and I am so thankful that God brought you into my life

Virtuous Girlhood is last blog I am going to award (it was really hard to just choose five). I am awarding her for her wonderful quotes and thought provoking articles and for the encouraging comments she leaves

3. What is something crazy you have done with your best friend? My best friend is my sister Rose so we have had a lot of time to do crazy things. Because of that and the fact that everyone in my family is crazy (you laugh, but you would agree if you saw us in action) it is hard to pick one thing.

4. Have you ever held an alligator? Why would anyone in their right mind do that?



5. Have you ever let a snake slither through your fingers? No, I am too busy killing them so they won’t get the chickens.



6. What is your first and foremost dream in life? To love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, and mind and to show his love to the world.

10. If you could change the world in one way, what would you do? I would wake up the sleeping church and get them to live their faith and start loving people like Christ commanded.

We had heard about this movie when it came out and it seemed cute, but you can tell so little from trailers these days. I have to say, out of the movies I have watched this year, this one has to be one of my favorite.

The basic plot is that a young man, who has grown up with the promise of someday running the hotel he works at, is still just the lowly mechanic. When his sister need to go out of state to look for a job, she leaves her two kids with him. Not knowing how to handle these kids, he tells them amazing and fantastical bedtime stories. In funny ways the bedtime stories come true and change his life.

My family laughed our way though this film, it was probably the best family film’s we have seen in a long time. It kept all of us entertained from Dad to my ten year old sister.

Okay, now for a list of things that you might want to think about. There is one girl that dresses in immodest clothes but the scene with her in them are brief. There is one creature in the last bedtime story that some little kids may find scary, although even in our house where we have some kids that get scared easily they found it more gross than scary (they do it in a silly manner). Lastly, there is a little bit of crude humor, but not much.

On the plus side it has some good moral lessons embedded in it like; just because a girl is pretty doesn’t mean she is the best. He doesn’t start throwing punches just because the bad guy gets on his nerves.

Yesterday, I had a lot of fun at a friend’s house playing speed volleyball. What? Don’t know what speed Volleyball is? Neither did I until last night, but I found out that it was very fun.

We had a lot of people who wanted to play, so we divided into three teams. The third team stands outside the volleyball court and when a team loses the ball (the other team scores), the third team takes the field. This can be exhausting, confusing and so much fun as team’s race on and off the court. We had a lot of fun; I wish all of you could have been there.

Life is very busy around here which explains why I haven’t posted for a few days (sorry about that), getting ready for the Christmas bazaar and other things. Posts will probably be spotty until January.

I had every intention to posting on Monday but my youngest sister broke her arm on Saturday evening. She got a temporary cast in the emergency room and yesterday we went to our doctor to get a real cast. Our doctor said that we would have to get a specialist to do since she broke her growth pate, which won’t be until tomorrow.

Please pray for my little sister, she is in a lot of pain right now so please keep her in your prayers.

Where is your writing taking you? In other words, what are you called to use your writing talents for? I spend almost every Saturday sharing some of the things that I have learned that have made my writing better. This Saturday, I would like to talk about what we are supposed to do with our craft.

There are many ways that you can use your gift of writing beyond the traditional, write a book, get book published, touch many lives with book. Though that may be what you are called to do, there are other ways to use your talents for God. Some of them may not seem as big as a book, but even if they touch one life, they are just as important.



Blogging;

I started this blog because I wanted to perfect my writing craft (I still have a long way to go). Little did I know that I would find myself less than a year later connected to so many neat young ladies, the manager of a devotional blog (http://meditationsofhislove.blogspot.com/), and feeling so privileged because I had been able to minister to some other girls. If all I ever do with my passion for writing is to write on this blog, I think that it would be a good use of my craft.



Articles;

There are many small magazines, E-zines, and group blogs, that really need writers and I have been blessed to be allowed write for some of them. Using your writing to encourage and/or challenge sisters (or brothers) in Christ is definitely a worthy use of your talents. I will post a list of all the magazines, E-zines, and group blogs that I know of on Monday. If you have any that you think I should include, leave a comment.



Letter writing;

I must confess I am not a great letter writer, but I have a sister Rose that is. Using your writing craft to write letters to others is a wonderful use of your craft. Letters show people you care and that you are thinking of them. Letters have that ability to touch and change the lives of the people who read them.

There are many other ways to use your writing to honor God and change lives. Can you think of some? Where is your writing taking you?

Elections are over so I will be getting back to posting more regularly. I can’t tell you all how much I have missed all of you and posting on my blog. I can’t wait to share some of the things that have happened and some of the things I have learned.

Today, I am a tired, and have a mound of work that needs to get done. Things really pile up when you have been working for over two weeks. My room is a mess, my sewing area is a disaster, and there are several projects calling my name. So I better get to work.
