Maybe I can do this

4:49 PM

I have to admit, over the past few years I have been an author, I have had some discouraging moments. After all, when you have lots of people looking at a book and then find out grammar mistakes still made it into the final version, it is hard. When someone bashes my book, it is hard. When I look at all the hours I put into a book and the sales are not happening, it is hard. It is on those days I have to remember my prayer for every book.

My prayer is that one person is brought closer to God for each book. If one person is drawn closer, it is worth it.

The past year, while full of many wonderful things, has not been kind to my writing schedule. I have been discouraged about my lack of progress. However, yesterday, I was given a gift: the largest royalties check I have ever received.

It still is pretty small and is much smaller than any paycheck, but I am so grateful. Just when I was feeling discouraged, God sent a blessing.

Today, I want to pass some of that blessing onto you. You can enter to win a $5 Amazon gift card.

  2. Oh how much I identify here!! This, and also the thought of, "Lord, are you SURE I can do this?" when I have a new story idea that has amazing potential ... but I feel feeble in my abilities.

I know you weren't "fishing for a compliment," but keep up the good work, Sarah! I still haven't read all of your novels, but what I have read have definitely been a blessing! I appreciate you sticking to writing "clean" and not what's popular. :) It's an encouragement to fellow-authors not to be swayed by public "demands."

  3. Oh, I'm sorry things have been tough for you lately, darling! *many hugs* Typos happen to everyone and everyone has different taste in books (though that's no reason to bash them!) but I hope you know that it's still worth it and there are still people who care about your books. :) I know Kate's Innocence, for example, was really reminding me of some things about God I needed to hear, and of course I love A Different Kind of Courage... ;) Anyways, don't give up and I hope things will get less depressing for you! That's great about your check -- congrats! :D
